Cathy graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1980. Upon graduation, Cathy obtained her CPA certificate and worked at a large local CPA firm in Portland for six years. In 1991, she co-founded a small firm, which later merged into a local firm in downtown Portland.
Cathy has been at Schultz Group CPAs since 1998 and works on individual, trust and business tax returns as well as assisting clients with their accounting software needs. She volunteers with several local charitable organizations, providing accounting services and financial information consulting.
Ryan is a life long Oregonian. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1998. He started his career with Merrill Lynch as a financial consultant. He later joined Schultz Group CPAs in 2000 and became a CPA in 2003. In addition to his credential as a certified public accountant, he has also attained a Personal Financial Specialist credential (PFS), available only to CPAs.
Ryan professional focus includes tax and consulting services to individuals and closely held businesses.
Danny Pittenger Danny graduated from the University of Oregon in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. His concentration was in finance and economics. He joined the Schultz Group CPAs team in 2009. He did post-baccalaureate work in accounting at Portland State University and obtained his CPA license in 2012. Danny provides tax, consulting, and advisory services to individuals and closely held-businesses.
Danny was raised in the Portland area and he enjoys the outdoors and leading an active lifestyle. Some of his interests and hobbies include running, whitewater rafting, camping, and of course rooting for his Oregon Ducks.
Mike received an MBA from U.C. Berkeley in 1975 and became a CPA while working at Price Waterhouse in San Francisco. He transferred to Price Waterhouse in Portland and, after becoming a tax manager, left to join Moss, Adams & Co., a regional CPA firm. In 1981 he started his own CPA practice and joined Schultz Group CPAs in 2004.
His professional focus is taxation, with experience in complex tax issues related to individuals, trusts and small businesses as well as foreign tax issues.
Susan received a BA in mathematics from U.C. Berkeley and studied accounting post-baccalaureate. She became a CPA in 1984. After working for a local CPA firm, she went to work in a bank trust department as a trust tax officer. She joined the accounting practice of her husband Mike in 1983 and Schultz Group CPAs in 2004. Miraculously, she and Mike are still married after working together for 20 years.
Paul graduated from Whitman College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After several years working for a high-tech manufacturing company in Portland, he went back to school and earned his Master of Arts in Writing from Portland State University. He then completed his Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting at Portland State in 2005 and was licensed as a CPA in 2006.
In 2006, he joined Richard P. Sheetz CPA, PC, a small practice specializing in real estate and high net worth individual clients. And in 2012, he partnered with Richard and became managing member of Sheetz & Mueller CPAs, LLC.
In January of 2015, he merged his practice into Schultz Group CPAs and became a shareholder. He provides tax consulting services to individuals, closely held businesses and trusts and estates.
Leah Wheeler joined Schultz Group CPAs as a tax preparer in 2015 after graduating from Portland State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration. She is currently pursuing her CPA license. Prior to working for Schultz & Crouse, Leah worked with accounts receivable and accounts payable for 6 years and switched to performing full-cycle bookkeeping for external clients in 2013.
Outside of work, Leah is an aspiring polyglot and is learning Japanese and Korean. Her and her husband also enjoy traveling, cycling, boardgames, science fiction conventions, and spending time with their two dogs.
Sarah Lane graduated from the University of Oregon with her accounting degree in 2005. After working in audit for an international accounting firm, she obtained her CPA license in 2006. Sarah then worked in the tax preparation field prior to receiving her Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of Connecticut.
After a few years in the higher education field, Sarah returned to the financial world to join Schultz Group CPAs and CLS Financial, where she provides tax and wealth management services to our clients. In addition, Sarah is currently working on completing her Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential.
Sarah is a native Oregonian who loves to travel and learn new things. She studied Mandarin in China and is always looking forward to her next travel adventure. Sarah also has a passion for financial literacy and looks for ways to help friends, family and the community become more confident in their finances.
